After more than a year in which Ride On bus fare was suspended, collection will resume on April 5.

The county stopped collecting fares on March 16 last year to limit personal interactions between bus drivers and passengers.

The standard cost per trip is $2. Fares will be collected again for all service lines, including Ride On, Ride On extRa, and Flash.

The Flex service in the Rockville and Wheaton/Glenmont areas will remain suspended, according to the Montgomery County Department of Transportation.

Bus passengers will also be able to board through the front door again. Protective partitions have been installed to separate bus drivers from passengers.

Rear doors have been used for boarding since March 2020.
