The five-floor, 140-unit apartment building coming to the former spot of the Arlington Road Post Office may also take the title of most expensive in downtown Bethesda.
7001 Arlington, developed and managed by Ohio-based Associated Estates, has launched a website and opened a leasing office above the nearby CVS at 6917 Arlington Road.
The property includes access to the adjacent Capital Crescent Trail and is expecting to start move-ins in March.
It won’t be a cheap building to get into.
The website lists its smallest unit — a 623-square-foot studio — as starting at $2,305 a month. A 685-square-foot one-bedroom starts at $2,605 a month and a 704-square-foot one-bedroom starts at $2,680 a month.
That could very well be the most expensive in the downtown Bethesda apartment market.
Bainbridge Bethesda (4918 St Elmo Avenue) opened last year with 540-square foot apartments starting at $2,020 a month. Those units were sold out by the building’s official opening.
One-bedrooms at the Bainbridge ranged from $2,215-$2,390 a month, with larger one-bedrooms (849 square feet) starting at $2,785 a month.
Studios at The Gallery of Bethesda start at $2,041 a month. That building (4800 Auburn Avenue) also opened last year.
Apartment prices at 7001 Arlington actually best compare with an older nearby building — Upstairs at Bethesda Row. The apartments (7131 Arlington Road) from Bethesda Row developer Federal Realty go from $2,349-$2,864 a month for a 747-square-foot one-bedroom.
A 685-square-foot one-bedroom in the building is priced at $2,401 a month.
7001 Arlington boasts of Energy Star appliances, espresso-color kitchen cabinets, tile blacksplash and surface quartz countertops.
A 1,021-square-foot, two-bedroom unit at the new building starts at $3,665 a month. The two-bedroom units go up to 1,345 square feet starting at $4,590 a month.
Two-bedroom units at the Bainbridge Bethesda range from $3,590-$4,680 a month. Upstairs at Bethesda Row has two-bedroom units starting at $3,080 a month with most available units in the $3,200 a month range, though prices top out at $4,518 a month.
The 7001 Arlington building will have a 211-space underground garage. Despite what’s shown in the rendering above, the building’s first floor commercial tenant will be a car dealer showroom.
The building will include a standard fitness center and clubroom, and will take advantage of its frontage to the Capital Crescent Trail with grilling areas and a bocce ball court.
