Perez does not plan to resign as DNC chair

Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez of Takoma Park said Sunday that he is “absolutely not” considering resigning.

Perez has faced criticism from some Democrats after Iowa’s vote-counting breakdown. [The Hill]

Deaf basketball player doing well for Rockville High

Blessed Mbogo, who plays basketball for Rockville High School and is deaf, is enrolled in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHOH) program in Montgomery County, which appoints him cued speech transliterators for class and after-school activities.

Mbogo obtained a cochlear implant for his right ear, and that allows him to hear faint sounds, but he doesn’t wear it when he plats. [Washington Post]

Novavax working on a coronavirus vaccine

Gaithersburg-based Novavax has been has been working seven days a week to help further production of a vaccine for coronavirus.

Novavax released an Ebola vaccine within 90 days of the genome being published in 2015 and expects it could have a similar timetable for this vaccine. [Montgomery Community Media]
