Woman reports attempted sexual assault in Bethesda

Police say attack happened at pedestrian bridge


Montgomery County police said a woman reported a sexual attack on her at a pedestrian bridge in Bethesda over the Beltway.

The woman reported that she was walking near the bridge that connects Fleming Avenue and Montgomery Road around 7:40 p.m. on Dec. 21, police said in a press release on Wednesday.

When the woman got to the bridge, she saw a male jogging behind her. He then tackled her and tried to sexually assault her, police said.

Police said the woman fought her attacker and he ran away. She called 911.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400.
