Woman dies after two-vehicle crash in Kensington

Crash happened on Connecticut Avenue near Franklin Street

A 72-year-old woman died Wednesday, a day after the SUV she was riding in was hit by a pickup truck in Kensington, police said.

Around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, a black 2007 Toyota 4Runner was traveling east on Franklin Street and a 2006 Toyota Tacoma was traveling north on Connecticut Avenue, police said in a press release.

As the 4Runner was trying to cross Connecticut Avenue, it was hit by the Tacoma, causing the 4Runner to roll over.

The driver and a passenger of the 4Runner were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The 4Runner passenger, who lived in Kensington, died of her injuries on Wednesday, police said.

Police said her name would be released after her family is notified.

The driver of the Tacoma was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.
