A man has been charged with killing his mother in a Clarksburg home early Monday morning.

Police said a family member woke up to the sound of gunshots, then discovered that Blackburn had shot his mother. The family member called 911.

Police said Maryann Blackburn had multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital, where she died of her injuries.

Police posted about the shooting on Twitter earlier on Monday, but gave few details and did not identify either the suspect or the victim.

Blackburn has been charged with first-degree murder. Attorney information was not listed Monday evening.
