A woman was critically injured and 23 people were displaced when a fire broke out at an Aspen Hill apartment complex Tuesday night, authorities said.

Firefighters called to 3934 Bel Pre Road around 10:20 p.m. saw fire coming from the third floor of the building, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Jason Blake told Bethesda Beat on Wednesday.

Firefighters found an unconscious woman inside and took her to a hospital, Blake said. She is in critical condition.

The woman was one of 10 adults and 13 children displaced in the fire, Blake said.

More than $700,000 in damage was done to the building, Fire & Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer posted on Twitter.

Piringer noted that another fire at the same complex occurred on Monday.
