A Germantown man died in a two-car crash in Gaithersburg early Sunday morning, Montgomery County police said.

Emil William Cosbert, 29, of Germantown, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu west on Clopper Road. His car crossed the center line near the intersection of Orchard Hills Drive just before 5:50 a.m. Sunday, police said in a press release.

Cosbert’s vehicle struck a 2018 Nissan Sentra that was traveling east on Clopper Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Sentra’s driver, 27-year-old Juliette Marie Simon, of Cheltenham in Prince George’s County, was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.

Police had posted news about the crash earlier on Sunday, but did not identify either driver.

The area where the crash happened is just east of Seneca Creek State Park. One section of Clopper Road was closed temporarily during an investigation, then reopened.
