A pedestrian died after two vehicles hit him Sunday night in the New Hampshire Estates area of Silver Spring, according to Montgomery County police.

Julio Vargas Valerio, 67, of Takoma Park, was hit at University Boulevard and Seek Lane just before 7:40 p.m., police wrote in a press release. The intersection is near New Hampshire Estates Elementary School, a park and several apartment complexes.

New Hampshire Estates is in the eastern part of Montgomery County, near the Prince George’s County border.

Valerio was crossing University Boulevard when he was hit by a 2006 Subaru Outback going east, police said. He was then hit by a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse that also was going east.

Emergency responders tried to help Valerio, but he died at the scene.

George Harry Dove, 74, of Hyattsville was driving the Outback, police said. He was not injured.

Eulalio R. Lopez Vail, of Langley Park, was driving the Eclipse, police said. He and his two passengers were not injured.

Neither driver was charged.
