A 15-year-old boy skateboarding on Montrose Road was seriously injured on Friday night when he was struck by a car.

The child, who was not identified, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police wrote.

He was hit by a 2012 Toyota Prius, driven by 47-year-old Najeem Amin Jan, of Dumfries, Virginia.

No additional details were available Monday morning.

The crash happened one block west of where a Walter Johnson High School student was seriously injured while crossing the street to board his school bus last year.

On Dec. 12, the 17-year-old student was crossing Montrose Road at Bargate Court when he was hit by a Jeep Renegade that did not stop for the bus’s outstretched stop signal.

He sustained serious injuries in the crash.
