Silver Spring woman was killed in Wheaton crash

Crash happened Friday at Georgia Avenue, Mason Street

A pedestrian who was struck by a car and killed in Wheaton on Friday was a Silver Spring woman, police said.

In a press release on Saturday, Montgomery County police identified the woman as 50-year-old Sharon Lanette Adams.

Police said on Friday that around 8:20 a.m., someone driving a blue 2006 Toyota Camry south on Georgia Avenue hit the woman as she was crossing at the Mason Street intersection.

The woman was in a marked crosswalk when she was hit.

The woman was taken to a hospital for her injuries, and later died there, police said.

The driver of the Camry was taken to a hospital for injuries that were considered minor. Police did not identify the driver on Friday or Saturday.

The area where the crash happened is just south of the Georgia Avenue-Randolph Road interchange.
