Montgomery County police are investigating after they say a woman was raped in Wheaton Sunday night.

The woman was with a friend at Wheaton Veterans Park on Amherst Avenue on Sunday, police said in a press release.

The victim walked to a nearby Safeway grocery store to use the bathroom. When she came out, a male grabbed her by the hand and forced her to leave the store with him, police said.

The male took the victim to an unknown area, where he raped her, police said. The victim then found her friend and called police.

Police said store surveillance video captured the male leading the victim out of the store, and released a photo of him.

They are asking anyone with information to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5050.
