Montgomery County police are investigating two unrelated deaths in connection with bodies found in the county on Wednesday.

A woman was found dead in a pond in the northern part of the county. Minutes later, miles away in Germantown, police found a man who was the victim of an apparent homicide.

At 3:39 p.m., police came to a pond near the 14200 block of Ballinger Terrace in Burtonsville after receiving a report of a “suspicious situation,” according to a press release. First responders found the remains of an adult woman in the pond.

The body was sent to the medical examiner’s office in Baltimore for an autopsy. Police have not released the name of the woman or other information, saying the investigation is ongoing.

At 3:51 p.m., police responded to another suspicious situation at a home in the 12500 block of Cross Ridge Way in Germantown, near Seneca Valley High School. Inside, they found an adult man with signs of trauma to his body.

Police did not identify the man or the type of trauma, but reported that his death is being investigated as a homicide. His body also has been sent to Baltimore for an autopsy.

Police have asked anyone with information about either death to call 240-773-5070 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Solvers of Montgomery County at 866-411-TIPS (8477).
