Police identify pedestrian killed in Wheaton crash

Driver has not been charged

Montgomery County police have identified a pedestrian who died Tuesday after being hit by a vehicle in Wheaton.

Ricardo Estuardo Jimenez, 53, of Wheaton, was trying to cross Georgia Avenue near the intersection of University Boulevard around 4 a.m. Tuesday, police said in a press release.

Luis Antonio Sanchez-Sosa, 45, of Wheaton, was driving a 2001 Honda Odyssey south on Georgia Avenue, police said, when his vehicle struck Jimenez.

Jimenez was taken to the hospital and died of his injuries, police said.

Sanchez-Sosa was not injured and has not been charged in the crash.

Police said on Tuesday that they are still investigating the crash.
