Montgomery County police have identified a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a driver in Takoma Park on Monday.

Roberto Cardenas Martinez was struck by a driver Monday at the intersection of University Boulevard and Merrimac Drive, police said in a press release.

Police gave an “approximate age” of 42 for Cardenas Martinez, and wrote that he was “possibly” born in San Pedro, Oaxaca. They did not say where he lived most recently.

Police said they could not find any of Cardenas Martinez’s family and are asking anyone with information to call them at 301-279-8000.

Police have not yet identified the driver who hit Cardenas Martinez. Takoma Park police said on Monday that the crash was not a hit-and-run and that the driver stayed at the scene.
