Montgomery County police have identified a Gaithersburg man who was killed following a crash Monday night on Midcounty Highway.

Anupom Ghosh, 49, was driving a 2018 Honda CRV north on Midcounty Highway and tried to make a left onto Saybrooke Oaks Boulevard around 7:50 p.m. Monday, police said in a press release.

Someone driving a 2021 Toyota Camry south on Midcounty Highway struck the Honda in the southbound lanes of Midcounty Highway.

The crash caused the Honda to roll and hit a utility pole before landing on its side, according to police.

Fire & Rescue crew members removed both drivers from their vehicles. Ghosh was taken to a hospital and later died of his injuries, police said.

The Camry driver was taken to a hospital and had injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.

Police did not identify the Camry driver on Wednesday.

Since mid-July Montgomery County police have not been including the names of surviving drivers involved in fatal crashes in press releases. Prior to then, police had included the names of drivers who survived.
