Police Blotter: Ten vehicle thefts reported in Silver Spring area

Crimes reported to Montgomery County police Dec. 13 through 19

Rockville area (including Rockville, North Potomac, Darnestown, Poolesville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 13100 block of Twinbrook Parkway between 10 p.m. on Dec. 15 and 5 a.m. on Dec. 16.

Robberies

  • Someone took money and property from a woman on the 15900 block of Somerville Drive around 3:45 p.m. on Dec. 14.
  • Three people took property from a man and assaulted him in the 15900 block of Somerville Drive around 3:46 p.m. on Dec. 14.

Bethesda area (including North Bethesda, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Kensington)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from two vehicles between Nov. 25 and Dec. 13. The thefts happened in the 3700 block of Underwood Street and the 3300 block of Shirley Lane.
  • Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between Dec. 13 and 19. Affected streets included Connecticut Avenue, Dresden Street, Drumm Avenue, Palisades Court and Edgewood Road. Force was reported in one case.
  • Property and parts were taken from two vehicles between Dec. 9 and 18. The thefts happened in the 4700 block of Chevy Chase Drive and the area of South Park Avenue and The Hills Plaza. Force was reported.
  • Parts were taken from multiple vehicles between 9 a.m. on Dec. 16 and 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 17. Affected streets included Westlake Terrace, Parthenon Court and Spring Lake Drive. Force was reported.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 7400 block of Westlake Terrace between 9 p.m. on Dec. 16 and 12:33 a.m. on Dec. 17. A spare key was reportedly left inside. The vehicle was recovered on Dec. 17.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 10100 block of River Road between 1 and 4 p.m. on Dec. 17. The victim reported that her keys were taken during this period. The vehicle was recovered on Dec. 28.

Armed robbery

  • Someone took property from a man and displayed a weapon in the 1900 block of East West Highway around 1:29 p.m. on Dec. 18. The robber was arrested.

Commercial burglary

  • Property was taken from a construction site trailer at 8301 River Road between 3 p.m. on Dec. 11 and 6 a.m. on Dec. 14. Force was reported.

Silver Spring area (including Silver Spring, Fairland, Burtonsville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money, property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between Dec. 13 and 19. Affected streets included East West Highway, Queen Annes Drive, Veterans Plaza, Wayne Avenue, Kennett Street, Denver Road, Eastern Avenue and Georgia Avenue. Force was reported in multiple cases.
  • Property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between Dec. 12 and 16. Affected streets included Heron Drive, Piney Branch Road, Bradford Road and Garland Avenue. Force was reported.
  • Property and parts were taken from two vehicles between Dec. 14 and 19. The thefts happened in the 10700 block of Woodsdale Drive and on Mt. Pisgah Road. Force was reported in one case.
  • Money and property were taken from two vehicles between 11:15 p.m. on Dec. 17 and 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 18. The thefts happened in the 2300 block of Blue Valley Drive and the 11600 block of Stewart Lane.
  • Money, property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between Dec. 1 and 19. Affected streets included Teagarden Circle, Hampton Point Drive, Beethoven Way, Palmer House Way, Mozart Drive, Castle Boulevard, Briggs Chaney Road and Verdi Court. Force was reported in multiple cases.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue around 9:10 p.m. on Dec. 13. It was reportedly left unlocked and running. The vehicle was recovered the same day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8400 block of Fenton Street around 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 14. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8500 block of Fenton Street around 2:31 p.m. on Dec. 15. It was reportedly left unlocked and running. The vehicle was recovered on Christmas Day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8500 block of Fenton Street between 6 and 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 15. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 1100 block of Ripley Street between 8:47 p.m. on Dec. 15 and 7:03 p.m. on Dec. 17. It was reportedly left unlocked.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 900 block of Ellsworth Drive between noon and 12:05 p.m. on Dec. 16. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 900 block of Philadelphia Avenue between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. on Dec. 18. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 900 block of Thayer Avenue between 3 and 3:10 p.m. on Dec. 18. It was reportedly left running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8600 block of Piney Branch Road between 6 p.m. on Dec. 18 and 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 19. It was recovered on Dec. 20.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 500 block of Southampton Drive around 5 a.m. on Dec. 15. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked and running.

Armed robberies

  • Someone took property from a man and displayed a weapon in the 8100 block of Fenton Street around 7:07 p.m. on Dec. 18. The robber displayed a weapon.
  • Someone took money and property from a boy in the 12000 block of Old Columbia Pike around 5:29 p.m. on Dec. 15. The robber displayed a weapon.
  • Three people took property from a man and assaulted him in the 12200 block of Tech Road around 9:55 p.m. on Dec. 19. One of the robbers displayed a weapon.

Gaithersburg area (including Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village)

Thefts from vehicles

  • A part was taken from a vehicle in the 10100 block of Watkins Mill Place between 4 p.m. on Dec. 18 and 9 a.m. on Dec. 19. Force was reported.
  • Money was taken from a vehicle in the first block of Ivy Oak Court between noon on Dec. 12 and 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 13.

Vehicle theft

  • A motorcycle was taken in the 9300 block of Corporate Boulevard between Dec. 3 and 13.
