Police Blotter: Ten vehicle thefts in Silver Spring area, seven in Bethesda area

Crimes reported to Montgomery County police between May 30 and June 5

Bethesda area (including North Bethesda, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Kensington)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from a vehicle in the first block of Wisconsin Circle around 9:40 a.m. on June 4.
  • Property was taken from multiple vehicles between May 15 and June 2. Affected streets included Auburn Avenue, Old Georgetown Road, Arlington Road and Bethesda Avenue. Force was reported in multiple cases.
  • Money, property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between May 15 and June 2. Affected streets included Morning Gate Drive, Rockville Pike, Montrose Avenue and Dickens Avenue. Force was reported in two cases.
  • Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between May 30 and June 4. Affected streets included Nevis Road, Goldleaf Drive, Mountain Branch Court, Redwing Road, Welborn Drive and Dorset Avenue. Force was reported in one case.
  • Property and a part were taken from two vehicles between May 30 and June 3. The thefts happened in the 5100 block of Dudley Lane and the area of Democracy Boulevard and Seven Locks Road. Force was reported in one case.
  • Parts were taken from a vehicle in the 7400 block of Lakeview Drive between 9 p.m. on May 31 and 10:55 p.m. on June 1. Force was reported.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 8700 block of Sundale Drive around 7:50 a.m. on June 1. It was reportedly left unlocked and running. The vehicle was recovered on June 3.
  • A vehicle was taken in the area of Elm Street and Woodmont Avenue between 3 and 8 p.m. on May 30.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 5700 block of Mohican Place around 5:30 a.m. on June 2. A key was reportedly left inside.
  • A motorcycle was taken in the 7500 block of Democracy Boulevard between 2 and 7:04 p.m. on June 4.
  • A moped was taken in the 4400 block of Willard Avenue between 3:14 and 6 a.m. on June 1.

Commercial burglary

  • Merchandise was taken from the Piercing Pagoda kiosk inside Westfield Montgomery mall at 7101 Democracy Blvd. around 8:15 a.m. on May 30. Force was reported.

Rockville area (including Rockville, North Potomac, Darnestown, Poolesville)

Theft from vehicle

  • Money and property were taken from two vehicles between midnight on June 4 and 2 p.m. on June 5. The thefts happened in the 11800 block of Enid Drive and the 11200 block of Hurdle Hill Drive.

Residential burglaries

  • Property was taken from a home in the 16100 block of Bowery Street between 9:47 a.m. on May 26 and 9:43 a.m. on June 1.
  • Property was taken from a home in the 12300 block of Riding Fields Road between 8 and 5:10 p.m. on June 4.

Silver Spring area (including Silver Spring, Fairland, Burtonsville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between May 28 and June 5. Affected streets included Philadelphia Avenue, Fenton Street, Georgia Avenue, Gist Avenue, Fenton Street, Queen Annes Drive, Boundary Avenue, Cedar Street, Thayer Avenue, Margaret Drive and McNeill Road. Force was reported in multiple cases.
  • Parts were taken from four vehicles between May 29 and June 3. Affected streets included Sligo Creek Parkway, Melbourne Avenue, Pershing Drive and Oakford Place. Force was reported.
  • Property and a part were taken from three vehicles between May 31 and June 2. Affected streets included Sudbury Road, Piney Branch Road and Quebec Terrace. Force was reported.
  • Money, property and parts were taken from four vehicles between May 25 and June 5. Affected streets included New Hampshire Avenue, Cottrell Terrace, Overlook Drive and Dilston Road. Force was reported in three cases.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 3000 block of Briggs Chaney Road early on June 5.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 8600 block of Georgia Avenue around 9:59 a.m. on May 30. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8300 block of Georgia Avenue around 1:24 p.m. on May 30. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside. The vehicle was recovered the same day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the area of Georgia and Thayer avenues around 9:35 p.m. on June 1. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked and running. It was recovered on June 1.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 9400 block of Georgia Avenue between 3 and 4 p.m. on May 28.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 1900 block of Locust Grove Road between 4:30 p.m. on June 1 and 8:15 a.m. on June 2. It was recovered on June 2.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Road around 4:34 p.m. on June 1. The victim told police they dropped the key near the vehicle. It was recovered on June 7.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 3900 block of Greencastle Road between 9 a.m. on May 31 and 8:21 p.m. on June 1.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 3300 block of Hampton Point Drive between 3 a.m. and noon on May 30. It was recovered the next day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 13600 block of Robey Road between 9:40 p.m. on May 30 and 7:03 a.m. on May 31.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 13800 block of Outlet Drive between 6 and 7 p.m. on May 31.

Strong-arm robberies

  • Three people took property from a man in the area of Spring Street and Roeder Road around 8:20 p.m. on June 5.
  • Three people took money and property from a man in the area of Ellsworth Drive and Cedar Street around 8:35 p.m. on June 5.

Armed robbery

  • Four people assaulted a boy and took his money and property in the 11500 block of February Circle around 8 p.m. on June 5. One of the robbers displayed a weapon.

Gaithersburg area (including Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from two vehicles between May 29 and June 5. The thefts happened in the 10000 block of Apple Ridge Road and the 10600 block of Stedwick Road. Force was reported.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 18300 block of Streamside Drive between 1 p.m. on June 4 and 2 a.m. on June 5. Force was reported.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 9900 block of Medical Center Drive between 2:30 and 3 p.m. on May 31. The victim told police the key was missing.
  • A vehicle was taken in the area of Watkins Mill and Club House roads between 11:30 p.m. on May 26 and 9:30 a.m. on May 27.
  • A motorcycle was taken in the 10200 block of Ridgeline Drive between midnight and 7 a.m. on June 1.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 7900 block of Coriander Drive between 6 p.m. on June 3 and 8 a.m. on June 4. It was recovered on June 4.
