Police Blotter: Sixteen vehicle thefts reported in Silver Spring area

Thefts from vehicles

  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 8500 block of 16th Street between 4 and 8:30 p.m. on May 27.
  • Money and property were taken from two vehicles in the 7300 block of Wisconsin Avenue between 5:50 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on May 24.
  • Money, property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between May 22 and 26. Affected streets included Denfeld Avenue, Nimitz Road, Anderson Road, St. Paul Street, Brookfield Drive and Colfax Street. Force was reported in one case.
  • Property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between 5 p.m. on May 27 and 11:30 a.m. on May 28. Affected streets included Rockville Pike, Marinelli Road and Morning Gate Drive. Force was reported in multiple cases.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 4600 block of South Chelsea Lane early on May 25. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside. It was recovered the same day.
  • A vehicle was taken from a home in the 4000 block of Adams Drive between 10:15 p.m. on May 22 and 7:45 a.m. on May 23.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 3000 block of Homewood Parkway between 11 p.m. on May 22 and 7:43 a.m. on May 23. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside. It was recovered on May 23.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 11000 block of Brandywine Street between midnight and 7 a.m. on May 23. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside. The vehicle was recovered the next day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 5700 block of Marinelli Road between 4 p.m. on May 22 and 11 p.m. on May 23.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 7800 block of Scotland Drive between 8 a.m. on May 22 and 8 a.m. on May 24. It was reportedly left unlocked. The vehicle was recovered on May 30.

Rockville area (including Rockville, North Potomac, Darnestown, Poolesville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Property was taken from two vehicles between May 22 and 25. The thefts happened in the 5100 block of Oakglen Drive and the 12100 block of Lauderdale Drive.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 14200 block of Dav Road between 9 p.m. on May 19 and 6:30 p.m. on May 20.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 11700 block of Silent Valley Lane between 10 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. on May 19.

Vehicle theft

  • A vehicle was taken in the 8800 block of Liberty Lane between 11 p.m. on May 22 and 9:10 a.m. on May 23. The vehicle was recovered on May 28.

Commercial burglary

  • Merchandise was taken from Micro Center at 1776 East Jefferson Street early on May 29. Force was reported.

Silver Spring area (including Silver Spring, Fairland, Burtonsville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between May 16 and 29. Affected streets included Thayer Avenue, Ellsworth Drive, Eastern Avenue, 13th Street, Newell Street, King Street, Wayne Avenue, East West Highway and Cameron Street. Force was reported in multiple cases.
  • Parts were taken from three vehicles between May 23 and 25. Affected streets included Walden Road, Georgia Avenue and East Schuyler Road. Force was reported.
  • Property was taken from three vehicles between May 25 and 29. Affected streets included Cahart Place, Mountain Quail Road and Edgewood Avenue. Force was reported in one case.
  • Parts were taken from two vehicles between May 21 and 27. The thefts happened in the 11400 block of Lockwood Drive and the 12500 block of Palermo Drive. Force was reported.
  • A part was taken from a vehicle in the 13100 block of Conductor Way between 6 p.m. on May 26 and 10 a.m. on May 27. Force was reported.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 800 block of Ellsworth Drive around 5 p.m. on May 24. It was reportedly left unlocked and running. The vehicle was recovered the same day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8500 block of Fenton Street around 6:30 p.m. on May 24. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 900 block of Ellsworth Drive around 9:54 p.m. on May 25. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8500 block of Fenton Street around 6:58 p.m. on May 26. It was recovered on May 28.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue between 11:04 p.m. on May 26 and 12:03 a.m. on May 27. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue around 10:11 p.m. on May 27. It was recovered the same day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue between 11 and 11:57 p.m. on May 27. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8400 block of Fenton Street around 7:45 p.m. on May 28. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside. The vehicle was recovered the next day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8500 block of Colesville Road between 1:50 and 2:10 p.m. on May 29. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8200 block of Fenton Street around 2:48 p.m. on May 29. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 800 block of Easley Street around 6:42 p.m. on May 29. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key left inside. It was recovered on June 1.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue around 11:31 p.m. on May 29. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked and running. It was recovered the next day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 9500 block of Biltmore Drive early on May 23. A key was reportedly left inside.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 100 block of Indian Spring Drive between 8 p.m. on May 28 and 8:15 a.m. on May 29.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8700 block of Arliss Street around 6:40 p.m. on May 29. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked and running. It was recovered the same day.
  • A vehicle was taken from a home in the 11200 block of Oak Leaf Drive between 11:30 p.m. on May 22 and 10:30 a.m. on May 23. It was recovered the same day.

Commercial burglaries

  • Property was taken from a storage garage at the Lenox Park Apartments at 1400 East West Highway around 12:40 p.m. on May 23. Force was reported.
  • Money and property were taken from Silver Spring Smile at 921 Ellsworth Drive early on May 26. Force was reported.

Gaithersburg area (including Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village)

Thefts from vehicles

  • A part was taken from a vehicle in the 17000 block of King James Way between 8 p.m. on May 27 and 10 a.m. on May 29. Force was reported.
  • Property and a part were taken from multiple vehicles between May 26 and 28. Affected streets included the 500 block of South Frederick Avenue and the 8200 block of Amity Circle. Force was reported in four cases.
  • A part was taken from a vehicle in the 18300 block of Streamside Drive between 9 p.m. on May 27 and 7:45 a.m. on May 28. Force was reported.

Armed robbery

  • Someone robbed a taxi driver in the 7600 block of Creekstone Court early on May 24. The robber took the driver’s money and tried to take money from a woman passenger. The robber displayed a weapon.

Commercial burglary

  • Property was taken from a construction site at 19225 Montgomery Village Ave. between 2:30 p.m. on May 22 and 6 a.m. on May 24. Force was reported.
