Police Blotter: Sixteen vehicle thefts reported in Silver Spring area; three restaurants burglarized

Bethesda area (including North Bethesda, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Kensington)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from three vehicles between Aug. 14 and 18. The thefts happened in the 8300 block of Grubb Road and the 2600 through 2700 blocks of Spencer Road.
  • Money, property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between Aug. 16 and 21. Affected streets included Troy Road, Schuylkill Road, Farnham Drive and Druid Drive. Force was reported in one case.
  • Property was taken from two vehicles between Aug. 16 and 18. The thefts happened in the 5300 block of Willard Avenue and the 5500 block of The Hills Plaza. Force was reported in one case.
  • Money was taken from three vehicles between Aug. 16 and 19. Affected streets included Montauk Avenue, Winnepeg Road and DePaul Drive.
  • Parts were taken from two vehicles between Aug. 25 and 27. The thefts happened in the 8700 block of Leonard Drive and the 8700 block of Milford Avenue. Force was reported.
  • Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between Aug. 13 and 27. Affected streets included Schuylkill Road, Flanders Avenue, Strathmore Avenue, Old Georgetown Road and Marinelli Road. Force was reported in four cases.
  • Money and property were taken from two vehicles between 8 a.m. on Aug. 26 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 27. The thefts happened in the 7000 block of Loch Lomond Drive and the 5900 block of Woodacres Drive. Force was reported in one case.
  • Property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between Aug. 23 and 27. Affected streets included Maryknoll Avenue, Alcott Road, Pooks Hill Road, Glenwood Road, Northfield Road and Johnson Avenue. Force was reported in three cases.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 2300 block of Perkins Place between 6 p.m. on Aug. 12 and 3 p.m. on Aug. 18.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 2000 block of Derby Ridge Lane around 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 20. It was reportedly left unlocked.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 5400 block of Tuckerman Lane between 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 and 5 a.m. on Aug. 20. Force was reported.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 7000 block of Arlington Road around 11:31 a.m. on Aug. 25. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 4800 block of Strathmore Avenue between 9 a.m. on Aug. 22 and 5:45 a.m. on Aug. 23. It was recovered on Aug. 25.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 10800 block of Symphony Park Drive between 10 p.m. on Aug. 24 and 6 a.m. on Aug. 25.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 6300 block of Alcott Road between 2:45 and 6 a.m. on Aug. 24. It was recovered two days later.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 12100 block of Whippoorwill Lane between 8 p.m. on Aug. 24 and 6 a.m. on Aug. 25.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 6700 block of Arroyo Court around 5 a.m. on Aug. 25. It was recovered the same day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 10000 block of Kendale Road early on Aug. 25.

Armed carjacking

  • Two people stole a vehicle from a woman in the 7700 block of Westfield Drive around 10:41 a.m. on Aug. 17. One of the robbers displayed a weapon.

Burglaries

  • Two people broke into Wyngate Elementary School at 9300 Wadsworth Drive early on Aug. 18. Nothing was taken.
  • Property was taken from the Lerner Company at 11301 Rockville Pike between 12:24 p.m. on Aug. 24 and 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 27.

Rockville area (including Rockville, North Potomac, Darnestown, Poolesville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 300 block of Derwood Circle between 2 and 2:15 p.m. on Aug. 18.
  • Money was taken from a vehicle in the 12600 block of St. James Road between 7 p.m. on Aug. 18 and 8:50 a.m. on Aug. 19.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 15900 block of Somerville Drive between 8 p.m. on Aug. 21 and 2 p.m. on Aug. 22.

Vehicle thefts

  • A motorcycle was taken in the 8100 block of Needwood Road between 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 16 and 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 18. It was recovered on Aug. 20.

Commercial burglary

  • Merchandise was taken from Micro Center at 1776 East Jefferson St. early on Aug. 28. Force was reported.

Silver Spring area (including Silver Spring, Fairland, Burtonsville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between Aug. 16 and 19. Affected streets included Blair Mill Road, East West Highway, Ellsworth Drive and Georgia Avenue.
  • Money, property and parts were taken from four vehicles between Aug. 13 and 21. Affected streets included Countryside Drive, Aston Manor Court, Blackburn Lane and MacTavish Place. Force was reported in three cases.
  • Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between Aug. 22 and 26. Affected streets included Kennett Street, Ellsworth Drive, Eastern Avenue, Newell Street, Wessex Road, Thayer Avenue and Cameron Street. Force was reported in three cases.
  • Property was taken from four vehicles between Aug. 22 and 26. Affected streets included the 2300 through 2400 blocks of Eccleston Street and the 100 block of Franklin Avenue.
  • Property was taken from multiple vehicles between Aug. 22 and 27. Affected streets included Lexington Drive, Elton Road, Southwood Avenue, Oaklawn Court and Hampshire West Court.
  • Property was taken from three vehicles between 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 23 and 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 24. Affected streets included the 3400 and 3500 blocks of Forsythia Lane and the 3100 block of Greencastle Road.

Armed carjackings

  • Two people stole a man’s vehicle in the 8300 block of Colesville Road and assaulted him early on Aug. 16. One of the robbers displayed a weapon. The robbers also stole property.
  • Three people stole a man’s vehicle in the 600 block of Thayer Avenue early on Aug. 19. One of the robbers displayed a weapon. The vehicle was recovered the same day.
  • Three people took a man’s vehicle in the 8300 block of Georgia Avenue around 11:02 p.m. on Aug. 24. One of the robbers displayed a weapon and assaulted the man.
  • Three people stole a man’s vehicle and property in the 800 block of Wayne Avenue early on Aug. 27. One of the robbers displayed a weapon.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 8700 block of Georgia Avenue between 6 p.m. on Aug. 16 and 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 21.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 10200 block of New Hampshire Avenue between 3 and 5 p.m. on Aug. 20. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside.
  • A vehicle was taken from a home in the 2200 block of Countryside Drive between 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 15 and 5 a.m. on Aug. 16. It was recovered on Aug. 21.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 13900 block of Castle Boulevard between 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 15 and 11:40 a.m. on Aug. 16.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 4300 block of Isleswood Terrace between 6 p.m. on Aug. 17 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 18.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 15100 block of Cedar Tree Drive between 9 p.m. on Aug. 18 and 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 19. It was recovered on Aug. 20.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 900 block of Philadelphia Avenue between 3:23 p.m. on July 29 and 11 a.m. on Aug. 23. It was recovered on Aug. 24.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 1200 block of East West Highway between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Aug. 21. It was recovered four days later.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8700 block of 2nd Avenue between 10 p.m. on Aug. 25 and 10 a.m. on Aug. 26. It was recovered on Aug. 27.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 10200 block of Ridgemoor Drive between 8 p.m. on Aug. 22 and 4:35 a.m. on Aug. 23. It was recovered on Aug. 28.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 10600 block of Gatewood Avenue between 10 p.m. on Aug. 27 and 6 a.m. on Aug. 28.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 1200 block of East Randolph Road between 7:30 and 7:50 a.m. on Aug. 26. It was reportedly left unlocked and running. The vehicle was recovered on Aug. 26.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 11200 block of Oak Leaf Drive early on Aug. 27. The victim reportedly dropped her key. It was recovered the same day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard between 4:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Aug. 24.
  • A vehicle was taken in the area of Briggs Chaney Road and Columbia Pike between 10 p.m. on Aug. 26 and 11 a.m. on Aug. 27.
  • A vehicle was taken in the area of Sandy Spring Road and Columbia Pike between 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 and 10:45 a.m. on Aug. 29.

Commercial burglaries

  • Property was taken from Odalis Restaurant & Bar at 8215 Georgia Ave. early on Aug. 17. Force was reported.
  • Property was taken from Matchbox Pizza at 919 Ellsworth Drive around 5:05 p.m. on Aug. 18.
  • Money and property were taken from Moorenko’s Ice Cream at 8030 Georgia Ave. early on Aug. 20.

Gaithersburg area (including Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from three vehicles between Aug. 15 and 17. Affected streets included Mills Choice Road, the area of Torrey Pond Road and Apple Ridge Road, and Arrowhead Road. Force was reported in two cases.
  • Money, property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between Aug. 13 and 18. Affected streets included Rickenbacker Drive, Cottage Hill Court, Hazelcrest Drive, Dew Wood Drive and Flower Hill Terrace. Force was reported in one case.
  • Property and parts were taken from four vehicles between Aug. 21 and 26. Affected streets included the 9000 block of Green Run Way and the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle. Force was reported in three cases.
  • Parts were taken from a vehicle in the 19200 block of Chennault Way early on Aug. 21. Force was reported.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 9300 block of Willow Creek Drive between 3 p.m. on July 16 and 3 p.m. on Aug. 16.
  • A vehicle was taken from the 18613 Walkers Choice Road between 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 23 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 24. It was recovered on Aug. 25.
  • Two people took a vehicle from the 9700 block of Lake Shore Drive around 10:19 p.m. on Aug. 25. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside.
  • A motorcycle was taken in the 9800 block of Hellingly Place between 9:44 a.m. on Aug. 26 and 8:18 a.m. on Aug. 28.
