Police Blotter: Six vehicle thefts in Bethesda area, six in Silver Spring area

Crimes reported to Montgomery County police between Feb. 7 and 13

Rockville area (including Rockville, North Potomac, Darnestown, Poolesville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money was taken from three vehicles between Feb. 9 and 13. Two thefts happened in the 7800 block of Heatherton Lane and the other happened in the 13400 block of Ridge Drive.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 9900 block of Juniper Hill Road between 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 10 and 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 11.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 14800 block of Rolling Green Way around 5:45 a.m. on Feb. 11. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked and running. It was recovered the same day.

Bethesda area (including North Bethesda, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Kensington)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money, property and parts were taken from two vehicles between Feb. 4 and 8. The thefts happened in the 4900 block of Bradley Boulevard and the 5300 block of Hampden Lane. Force was reported in one case.
  • Money and property were taken from three vehicles between Feb. 6 and 8. Affected streets included Matthews Lane, Parkwood Drive and Conifer Lane.
  • Property and parts were taken from four vehicles between Feb. 5 and 13. Affected streets included the area of Nicolson Lane and Executive Boulevard, Old Georgetown Road and Grosvenor Place. Force was reported in two cases.
  • Money and property were taken from three vehicles between Feb. 6 and 10. Affected streets included Orkney Parkway, Broxburn Court and Bayard Boulevard.
  • Money and property were taken from three vehicles between Feb. 3 and 8. Affected streets included Walton Road, Fulbright Court and Ewing Drive.
  • Money and property were taken from four vehicles between Feb. 8 and 13. Affected streets included Arizona Circle, Democracy Boulevard, Holmhurst Road and Wolftree Lane. Force was reported in one case.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 7600 block of Woodmont Avenue between 3 p.m. on Feb. 7 and 8 a.m. on Feb. 8.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 2600 block of Garfield Avenue between 2 p.m. on Feb. 6 and 6:47 a.m. on Feb. 8.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 4300 block of Glenridge Street between 5 p.m. on Feb. 7 and 7 a.m. on Feb. 8. It was reportedly left unlocked.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 6700 block of Selkirk Drive early on Feb. 7. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key fob left inside.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 5600 block of Lincoln Street between midnight on Feb. 8 and 1 p.m. on Feb. 10.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 11100 block of Old Georgetown Road between 4 p.m. on Feb. 11 and 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 13.

Commercial burglary

  • Someone took merchandise from Westfield Montgomery mall at 7101 Democracy Blvd. around 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 7.

Aggravated assault

  • A man assaulted someone in the 10700 block of River Road around 12:19 p.m. on Feb. 10. The attacker displayed a weapon and was later arrested.

Silver Spring area (including Silver Spring, Fairland, Burtonsville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between Feb. 6 and 13. Affected streets included Colesville Road, Ellsworth Drive, Cameron Street, East West Highway, 1st Avenue and 13th Street. Force was reported in multiple cases.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 9300 block of Georgia Avenue around 10:55 a.m. on Feb. 13.
  • Property and parts were taken from four vehicles between 3 p.m. on Feb. 9 and 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 10. Affected streets included the area of Walden Road and Plymouth Street, Piney Branch Road, the area Plymouth Street and Flower Avenue and University Boulevard East. Force was reported in three cases.
  • Property was taken from multiple vehicles between Feb. 7 and 12. Affected streets included Sidney Road, Quinby Street, Portland Place and Elton Road. Force was reported in one case.
  • Property was taken from two vehicles between Feb. 6 and 13. The thefts happened in the 11500 block of Lockwood Drive and the 12800 block of Stonecrest Drive. Force was reported in one case.
  • Money was taken from three vehicles between 5 p.m. on Feb. 12 and 6 a.m. on Feb. 13. Affected streets included Strauss Terrace, Mozart Drive and Brahms Terrace.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 7900 block of Georgia Avenue around 12:23 p.m. on Feb. 7. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key in the ignition.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Road between 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 and 6:40 p.m. on Feb. 11.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8400 block of Piney Branch Road between 7 p.m. on Feb. 11 and 9 a.m. on Feb. 12. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside.
  • A vehicle was taken in the area of Shanandale Drive and Calverton Boulevard between 8 p.m. on Feb. 9 and 12:01 a.m. on Feb. 10.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 11200 block of New Hampshire Avenue between 6 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. on Feb. 12.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 13500 block of Aston Manor Way between 4 p.m. on Feb. 9 and 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 10.

Armed robberies

  • A man stole merchandise from the Silver Hot Dog Stand on the 1100 block of Wayne Avenue around 12:31 p.m. on Feb. 10. He displayed a weapon and was later arrested.
  • Someone took money and property from a woman in the 500 block of Domer Avenue around 9:35 p.m. on Feb. 11. The robber displayed a weapon.

Thefts

  • Someone took merchandise from TG Jewelers at 8661 Colesville Road around 9:27 a.m. on Feb. 13. Force was reported.
  • A male took merchandise from Sears at 11255 New Hampshire Ave. around 5:53 p.m. on Feb. 13. He displayed a weapon when security tried to stop him.

Gaithersburg area (including Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village)

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the area of Centerway Road and Kinglet Place between 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 4 and 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 7.

Commercial burglary

  • Property was taken from Pollo a la Vista at 16905 Oakmont Ave. early on Feb. 12. Force was reported.
