Police Blotter: Seven vehicle thefts reported in Silver Spring area

Bethesda area (including North Bethesda, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Kensington)

Thefts from vehicles

  • A part was taken from a vehicle in the 2200 block of Washington Avenue between 8 p.m. on Sept. 6 and 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 13. Force was reported.
  • Property was taken from two vehicles between Sept. 12 and 17. The thefts happened in the 4600 block of Leland Street and the 4700 block of Hampden Lane. Force was reported in one case.
  • Money and property were taken from four vehicles between Sept. 13 and 18. Affected streets included Gloster Road, Wood Way, Jamestown Road and River Road. Force was reported in one case.
  • Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between Sept. 12 and 17. Affected streets included Park Lane, Greentree Road, Hollins Drive, Hollins Court, Earlham Drive and Sebago Road.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 9700 block of Corkran Lane between 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 16 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 17.
  • Money and property were taken from three vehicles between Sept. 13 and 15. Affected streets included Holly Leaf Lane, Avenel Farm Drive and Cindy Lane.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 7500 block of Sebago Road between 6 p.m. on Sept. 16 and 2 p.m. on Sept. 17. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked with a fob inside. It was recovered on Sept. 17.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 7800 block of Winterberry Place between 11 p.m. on Sept. 16 and 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 17. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 9700 block of Montauk Avenue between 6 p.m. on Sept. 12 and 4 a.m. on Sept. 13. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside. The vehicle was recovered on Sept. 16.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8000 block of Herb Farm Drive between 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 14 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 15. A key was reportedly left inside. It was recovered on Sept. 15.
  • Three people stole two vehicles from a home in the 9900 block of Potomac Manors Drive early on Sept. 16. The robbers used the garage door opener in one vehicle to open the door and steal the other two, which had keys inside. One vehicle was recovered the same day.

Rockville area (including Rockville, North Potomac, Darnestown, Poolesville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from three vehicles between 5 p.m. on Sept. 16 and 2 p.m. on Sept. 17. Affected streets included Lakenheath Way, Fox Run and Inverness Hollow Terrace.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 13000 block of Chestnut Oak Drive early on Sept. 16.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 1700 block of East Jefferson Street between 8:40 and 8:55 p.m. on Sept. 14.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 15600 block of Frederick Road between 3 p.m. on Sept. 6 and 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 13. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked with a key fob inside. It was recovered the next day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 2500 block of Stratton Drive between 5 p.m. on Sept. 16 and 11:58 a.m. on Sept. 17.

Silver Spring area (including Silver Spring, Fairland, Burtonsville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Property and parts were taken from three vehicles between Sept. 9 and 15. Affected streets included Wayne Place, Thayer Avenue and East West Highway. Force was reported in two cases.
  • Money, property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between Sept. 10 and 16. Affected streets included Biltmore Drive, Julep Avenue, Hastings Drive, Green Holly Terrace and Lyttonsville Road. Force was reported in two cases.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 400 block of East Indian Spring Drive between 6 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 12:15 p.m. on Sept. 18.
  • Property was taken from four vehicles between Sept. 12 and 16. Affected streets included White Oak Vista Terrace, Eastbourne Drive, Rosemere Avenue and Nora Drive.
  • Parts were taken from two vehicles between Sept. 5 and 15. The thefts happened in the 15300 block of Old Columbia Pike and the 15300 block of Spencerville Court. Force was reported.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue around 9:27 p.m. on Sept. 12. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue around 8:07 p.m. on Sept. 14. It was reportedly left unlocked and running. The vehicle was recovered two days later.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8000 block of Georgia Avenue around 12:20 p.m. on Sept. 16. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 900 block of Daleview Drive between 10 p.m. on Sept. 15 and 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 16. It was recovered on Sept. 21.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8500 block of Glenview Avenue between 4 and 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 17. Force was reported.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 1000 block of Nora Drive between 3 p.m. on Sept. 14 and 9 a.m. on Sept. 15. A key was reportedly left inside. It was recovered on Sept. 17.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 4300 block of Camley Way early on Sept. 18.

Armed robbery

  • Someone took merchandise from Giant Food at 1280 East West Highway around 2 p.m. on Sept. 14. The robber displayed a weapon.

Strong arm robbery

  • Someone assaulted a woman and took her property in the 11200 block of New Hampshire Avenue around 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 15.

Gaithersburg area (including Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 18700 block of Walkers Choice Road around 10 p.m. on Sept. 12.
  • Parts were taken from a vehicle in the 8400 block of Tea Rose Drive between 6 p.m. on Sept. 11 and 6 p.m. on Sept. 12. Force was reported.

Residential burglary

  • Property was taken from a home in the 8200 block of Shady Spring Drive between 8 p.m. on Sept. 13 and 1:11 p.m. on Sept. 17. A window was reportedly left unlocked.
