Police Blotter: Nine vehicle thefts, three carjackings reported in Silver Spring area

Crimes reported to Montgomery County police between Nov. 7 and 13

Bethesda area (including North Bethesda, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Kensington)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between Nov. 9 and 13. Affected streets included Wisconsin Avenue, Pauline Drive and Colston Drive. Force was reported in one case.
  • Money and property were taken from two vehicles between Nov. 6 and 11. The thefts happened in the 7000 block of Exeter Road and the 7800 block of Wisconsin Avenue. Force was reported in one case.
  • Property and a part were taken from four vehicles between Nov. 6 and 12. Affected streets included Spruell Drive, Decatur Avenue, Culver Street and Connecticut Avenue. Force was reported in one case.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 7800 block of Oracle Place between 5 p.m. on Nov. 7 and 10 a.m. on Nov. 8.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 2400 block of Lyttonsville Road between 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 and 9 a.m. on Nov. 12.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 2800 block of Spencer Road between 8 p.m. on Nov. 12 and 8:45 a.m. on Nov. 13. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked with a key fob inside.

Commercial burglary

  • Property was taken from the Hilton Garden Inn at 7301 Waverly St. between 9:20 and 10:05 a.m. on Nov. 12.

Rockville area (including Rockville, North Potomac, Darnestown, Poolesville)

Thefts from vehicle

  • Property and a part were taken from two vehicles between Nov. 6 and 13. The thefts happened in the area of Needwood Road and Ironforge Court and the 16100 block of Crabbs Branch Way. Force was reported in one case.

Commercial burglaries

  • Someone stole merchandise from the AT&T store at 12023 Rockville Pike around 5 p.m. on Nov. 10.
  • Property was taken from the Potomac Garden Center at 12024 Darnestown Road between 6 p.m. on Nov. 5 and 7:15 a.m. on Nov. 8. Force was reported.

Silver Spring area (including Silver Spring, Fairland, Burtonsville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from three vehicles between Nov. 7 and 12. Affected streets included Bonifant Street, East West Highway and Fenton Street. Force was reported in one case.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 2000 block of Lanier Drive between 6 p.m. on Nov. 10 and 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 11.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 800 block of University Boulevard East between 7 p.m. on Nov. 11 and 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 12. Force was reported.
  • Parts were taken from two vehicles between Nov. 9 and 11. The thefts happened in the 9900 block of Indian Lane and the 10500 block of South Dunmoor Drive. Force was reported.
  • Money and property were taken from a vehicle in the 14300 block of Bald Hill Court between 3 p.m. on Nov. 11 and 3 p.m. on Nov. 12.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 8700 block of Georgia Avenue around 4:50 p.m. on Nov. 11. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8700 block of Georgia Avenue around 4:20 p.m. on Nov. 13. It was reportedly left unlocked and running. The vehicle was recovered the next day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8700 block of Georgia Avenue around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 13. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 9900 block of Moss Avenue between 1 p.m. on Nov. 8 and 8 a.m. on Nov. 9. It was reportedly left unlocked.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 9300 block of Georgia Avenue between 2:15 and 3:05 p.m. on Nov. 10.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 9700 block of Mt. Pisgah Road between 8 p.m. on Nov. 7 and 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 8.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 14400 block of Hollyhock Way between 9 p.m. on Nov. 9 and 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 10. It was recovered on Nov. 10.
  • A vehicle was taken in the area of Castle Way and Castle Boulevard between 9 p.m. on Nov. 9 and 10 a.m. on Nov. 10. A spare key was reportedly left inside. It was recovered on Nov. 13.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 3300 block of Hampton Point Drive between 10 p.m. on Nov. 11 and 7 a.m. on Nov. 12.

Carjackings

  • Someone stole a woman’s vehicle in the area of Georgia Avenue and Belvedere Boulevard early on Nov. 8.
  • A carjacking happened near a gas station in the 3000 block of Briggs Chaney Road around 11:15 a.m. on Nov. 7.
  • Someone stole a man’s vehicle at gunpoint in a parking lot in the 13900 block of Castle Boulevard around 6 p.m. on Nov. 8.

Armed robbery

  • Someone took property from a man in the 7900 block of Georgia Avenue around 5 a.m. on Nov. 11. The robber displayed a weapon.

Commercial burglary

  • Someone stole merchandise from the Starbucks at 15658 Old Columbia Pike early on Nov. 13. Force was reported. The thief was arrested.

Gaithersburg area (including Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from two vehicles between Nov. 5 and 8. The thefts happened in the 8300 block of Amity Circle and the 8700 block of Kelso Terrace. Force was reported in one case.
  • Money and property were taken from a vehicle in the 10800 block of Arrowsmith Court early on Nov. 8.
  • Money and property were taken from two vehicles between midnight and 4 p.m. on Nov. 9. The thefts happened in the 18000 block of Fence Post Court and the 18200 block of Flower Hill Way.

Residential burglaries

  • Property was taken from a home in the 17200 block of King James Way between 11 a.m. on Nov. 4 and 9 a.m. on Nov. 9. Force was reported.
  • Property was taken from a home in the 7600 block of Miller Fall Road between 7:40 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. on Nov. 8. Force was reported.
  • Property was taken from a home in the 7600 block of Miller Fall Road between 10:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. in the 7600 block of Miller Fall Road on Nov. 8. A door was reportedly left unlocked.
