Police Blotter: Nine vehicle thefts in Silver Spring area

Crimes reported to Montgomery County police between Sept. 19 and 25

Bethesda area (including North Bethesda, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Kensington)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between Sept. 18 and 24. Affected streets included Montgomery Lane, Elm Street, Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda Avenue, Edgemoor Lane, Arlington Road, Woodmont Avenue, Old Georgetown Road and Bethesda Metro Center. Force was reported in multiple cases.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 9800 block of La Duke Drive between 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 and 7 a.m. on Sept. 19.
  • Parts were taken from two vehicles between Sept. 14 and 22. The thefts happened in the 11800 block of Coakley Circle and the 10800 block of Symphony Park Drive. Force was reported.
  • Money and property were taken from three vehicles between Sept. 15 and 24. Affected streets included MacArthur Boulevard, Randall Lane and Garnett Drive.
  • Money and property were taken from three vehicles between 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 23 and 8 p.m. on Sept. 24. Affected streets included Oak Forest Lane, Kittery Lane and Arrowood Road.
  • Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between Sept. 17 and 25. Affected streets included Seven Locks Road, Kendale Road, Mercy Hollow Lane, Saunders Lane, Stable Lane and Brickyard Road.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 8500 block of 16th Street between 6 p.m. on Sept. 24 and 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 25.
  • Two people stole a vehicle in the 3000 block of Findley Road between 8 p.m. on Sept. 20 and 9:21 a.m. on Sept. 21. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside. The vehicle was recovered on Sept. 23. The robbers were arrested.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 10300 block of Strathmore Hall Street between 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 19. A key was reportedly left inside. The vehicle was recovered on Sept. 20.

Commercial burglary

  • Merchandise was taken from the Exxon at 7975 Old Georgetown Road between 11 p.m. on Sept. 24 and 6 a.m. on Sept. 25. Force was reported.

Rockville area (including Rockville, North Potomac, Darnestown, Poolesville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • A part was taken from a vehicle in the 12400 block of Washington Avenue between 6 p.m. on Sept. 15 and 2 p.m. on Sept. 20. Force was reported.

Vehicle theft

  • A vehicle was taken in the 9800 block of Juniper Hill Road between 7 p.m. on Sept. 19 and 7 a.m. on Sept. 20. The victim reported losing the key.

Silver Spring area (including Silver Spring, Fairland, Burtonsville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from three vehicles between Sept. 18 and 25. Affected streets included Colesville Road, Bonifant Street and Georgia Avenue.
  • Money, property and a part were taken from multiple vehicles between Sept. 18 and 23. Affected streets included Lyttonsville Road, Live Oak Drive, the area of Noyes Drive and 2nd Avenue, Hanover Street and Luzerne Avenue. Force was reported in two cases.
  • Money and property were taken from four vehicles between 11 a.m. on Sept. 22 and 10 a.m. on Sept. 23. Affected streets included University Boulevard East, Cottrell Terrace and Dilston Road. Force was reported.
  • Property and parts were taken from three vehicles between Sept. 18 and 24. Affected streets included the 11200 block of Lockwood Drive and the 11600 block of Stewart Lane. Force was reported.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the first block of Veterans Plaza around 6:10 p.m. on Sept. 20. It was reportedly left unlocked and running. The vehicle was recovered on Sept. 26.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 900 block of Bonifant Street between 6:45 and 6:58 p.m. on Sept. 22. It was recovered three days later.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8500 block of Georgia Avenue around 7:47 p.m. on Sept. 22. It was reportedly left unlocked and running. The vehicle was recovered the same day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 900 block of Sligo Avenue around 8:33 p.m. on Sept. 23. It was reportedly left unlocked and running. The vehicle was recovered two days later.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 900 block of Bonifant Street between 4 and 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 24. It was recovered on Sept. 25.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue around 5:04 p.m. on Sept. 25. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken in the area of Georgia Avenue and August Drive between 9 and 11 p.m. on Sept. 19. A window was reported left open. It was recovered the same day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8600 block of Piney Branch Road between 9 p.m. on Sept. 19 and 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 20. It was recovered on Sept. 21.
  • A vehicle was taken in the first block of Featherwood Court between 9 a.m. on Sept. 18 and 9 a.m. on Sept. 20.

Gaithersburg area (including Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village)

Theft from vehicle

  • Property and a part were taken from multiple vehicles between Sept. 22 and 24. Affected areas included the area of Stedwick Road and Watkins Mill Road, Frostburg Way, Watkins Mill Road and Apple Ridge Road and Forest View Place. Force was reported.

Vehicle theft

  • A vehicle was taken in the 10200 block of Ridgeline Drive early on Sept. 19.

Commercial burglary

  • Money and property were taken from Gem Nails & Spa at 9114 Rothbury Drive around 7:17 a.m. on Sept. 25. A door was reportedly left unlocked.
