Police Blotter: Four Vehicle Thefts in Silver Spring

Crimes reported to Montgomery County police from Sept. 29 through Oct. 5

Bethesda

Thefts from vehicles

Money and property were taken from four vehicles between Sept. 30 and Oct. 4. Affected streets included Franklin Street, Dewey Road, Jones Bridge Court and Crestwood Road.

Vehicle thefts

A vehicle was taken in the 5200 block of Portsmouth Road between 8 a.m. Sept. 23 and 12:14 p.m. Sept. 28. The vehicle was reported to have been left unlocked with the key inside. It was recovered Sept. 28.

A motorcycle was taken in the 7500 block of Spring Lake Drive between midnight Sept. 29 and 7:30 a.m. Sept. 30.

Aggravated assault

A Bethesda man was accused of an aggravated assault in the area of Westlake Drive and Westlake Terrace around 3:45 p.m. Oct. 4. He was arrested.

Commercial burglary

Property was taken from the Chevy Chase United Methodist Church at 7001 Connecticut Ave between 11 p.m. Oct. 2 and 6:30 a.m. Oct. 3. Force was reported.

Residential burglaries

Money and property were taken from a garage of a home in the 6800 block of Rannoch Road and from the vehicles inside. The theft happened between 7 p.m. Oct. 1 and 7 a.m. Oct. 2. The garage door and vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked.

Property was taken from a home in the 6900 block of Clarendon Road between 6 a.m. and noon Sept. 24. A door was reported to have been left unlocked.

Rockville

Thefts from vehicles

Money and property were taken from four vehicles between Sept. 30 and Oct. 4. Affected streets included Frederick Road, Crabbs Branch Way, Indianola Drive and Gramercy Boulevard.

Money and property were taken from four vehicles between 7:27 a.m. and 3:35 p.m. Oct. 4. Affected streets included Quince Valley Drive, Apricot Lane, Fellowship Way and Stoney Creek Road.

Vehicle thefts

A vehicle was taken in the 16100 block of Crabbs Branch Way between 7 p.m. Oct. 2 and 11:30 a.m. Oct. 3. The vehicle was reported to have been unlocked with the key inside.

Silver Spring

Thefts from vehicles

Money and property were taken from a vehicle in the 600 block of University Boulevard East around 1:49 p.m. Oct. 1.

Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between Sept. 29 and Oct. 4. Affected streets included Silver Spring Avenue, Cameron Street, Kennett Street, 13th Street and Bonifant Street. Force was reported in two cases.

Parts were taken from four vehicles between Oct. 1 and 5. Affected streets included La Plata Street, November Circle and Summerwood Drive. Force was reported in one case.

Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between Oct. 2 and 5. Affected streets included Columbia Pike, Blackburn Court, Castle Boulevard, and Blackburn and Duvall roads. Force was reported in one case.

Vehicle thefts

A vehicle was taken in the 700 block of Ellsworth Drive between 11 p.m. Sept. 26 and noon Sept. 27. Entry is unknown.

A vehicle was taken in the 500 block of Silver Spring Avenue between 5:30 a.m. and 4:02 p.m. Sept. 30. The vehicle was reported to have been left unlocked with a spare key inside. It was recovered Sept. 30.

A vehicle was taken in the 700 block of Sligo Avenue between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sept. 30. Entry is unknown.

A vehicle was taken in the 100 block of Sunnyside Road around 6 p.m. Oct. 5. Entry is unknown.

Armed robberies

Two people took property from a man in the 8200 block of Piney Branch Road around 12:22 p.m. Sept. 29. The robbers displayed a weapon and assaulted the man.

A Washington, D.C., woman took money and property from a woman in the 11200 block of Oak Leaf Drive around 11:41 a.m. Oct. 2. The robber was arrested.

Two people took property from two boys in the 11400 block of Lockwood Drive around 1:04 p.m. Oct. 4. One of the robbers displayed a weapon.

Two people took property from a man and assaulted him in the 3500 block of Sheffield Manor Terrace around 10:05 p.m. Oct. 4. One of the robbers displayed a weapon.
