Police blotter: Eight vehicle thefts reported in Silver Spring area

Crimes reported to Montgomery County police between Aug. 29 and Sept. 4

Bethesda area (including North Bethesda, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Kensington)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Property was taken from two vehicles between Aug. 31 and Sept. 2. The thefts happened in the 3200 block of Woodbine Street and the 3600 block of Taylor Street.
  • Money and property were taken from two vehicles between Aug. 27 and Sept. 2. The thefts happened in the 7100 block of Arlington Road and the 4900 block of Fairmont Avenue.
  • Money, property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between 7 p.m. on Aug. 31 and 5:45 a.m. on Sept. 1. Affected streets included the 3200 through 3400 blocks of University Boulevard West and the 3400 block of Inverness Drive. Force was reported in multiple cases.
  • Parts were taken from a vehicle in the 10100 block of Grosvenor Place between 10 p.m. on Aug. 30 and 10 a.m. on Aug. 31. Force was reported.
  • Money, property and a part were taken from four vehicles between Aug. 27 and Sept. 3. Affected streets included Christy Drive, Parkston Road, Morgan Drive and Baltan Road. Force was reported in one case.
  • Property and a part were taken from multiple vehicles between Aug. 28 and Sept. 4. Affected streets included Park Lane, Grant Street, Hampden Lane, Greentree Road, Mohawk Lane, Glenwood Road, Page Avenue, Holiday Terrace, Phoenix Drive, Sonoma Road, Thoreau Drive and McKinley Street. Force was reported in one case.
  • Parts were taken from a vehicle in the 6700 block of Democracy Boulevard between noon and 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 30. Force was reported.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 7000 block of Arlington Road between 8 p.m. on Sept. 1 and 6 p.m. on Sept. 2.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 4800 block of Bethesda Avenue around 10:18 a.m. on Sept. 4. It was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • A vehicle was taken from a home in the 4800 block of Morgan Drive early on Aug. 31.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 5400 block of Edgemoor Lane between 7 a.m. on Aug. 30 and 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 31.

Rockville area (including Rockville, North Potomac, Darnestown, Poolesville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Property was taken from multiple vehicles between Aug. 25 and Sept. 1. Affected streets included the area of Redland Road and Somerville Drive, Derwood Road, Derwood Street, Monona Court and Kipling Road. Force was reported in two cases.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 15100 block of Jones Lane between 9:30 and 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 3.

Vehicle thefts

  • A stolen vehicle was found in the 12000 block of Village Square Terrace around 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 3.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 7500 block of Redland Park Place between 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 29 and 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 30. It was recovered on Aug. 31.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 13600 block of Cherrydale Drive between 5 p.m. on Aug. 30 and 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 31. It was reportedly left unlocked. The vehicle was recovered on Sept. 2.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 14800 block of Botany Way between 9 p.m. on Aug. 30 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 31. It was recovered on Sept. 4.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 11200 block of Potomac Oaks Drive between 10 p.m. on Aug. 30 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 31.

Silver Spring area (including Silver Spring, Fairland, Burtonsville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from a vehicle in the 8100 block of Georgia Avenue between 2:45 and 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 2.
  • Money, property and a part were taken from three vehicles between Aug. 31 and Sept. 3. Affected streets included Dennis, 2nd and Dartmouth avenues. Force was reported in two cases.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 8500 block of Piney Branch Road between 8:55 p.m. on Aug. 30 and 6:40 a.m. on Aug. 31. Force was reported.
  • Money was taken from two vehicles between Sept. 2 and 4. The thefts happened in the area of Avenel Road and Northampton Drive, and the 300 block of Lexington Drive. Force was reported in one case.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 7900 block of Georgia Avenue around 5:36 a.m. on Aug. 29. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside. The vehicle was recovered on Aug. 31.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8500 block of Georgia Avenue between 12:40 and 12:50 p.m. on Aug. 31. It was recovered on Sept. 1.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 31. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked and running. It was recovered on Sept. 5.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue around 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 1. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked and running. It was recovered the same day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8300 block of Colesville Road around 8:36 p.m. on Sept. 1. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside. It was recovered the same day. Two teen boys were arrested.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 9200 block of New Hampshire Avenue early on Sept. 3. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked and running. It was recovered the same day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the area of Sandy Spring Road and Columbia Pike between 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 and 10:45 a.m. on Aug. 29.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard between 3 a.m. on Sept. 2 and 11 a.m. on Sept. 3.

Commercial burglaries

  • Medications were taken from CVS Pharmacy at 825 Wayne Ave. early on Sept. 3. Force was reported.
  • Money and property were taken from The 4 Corners Pub at 10111 Sutherland Road early on Aug. 31. Force was reported.
  • Money and merchandise were taken from Williams Beer & Wine at 15440 Old Columbia Pike early on Sept. 4. Force was reported.

Armed robbery

  • Someone took money from a man in the 900 block of Houston Avenue around 11:40 p.m. on Sept. 3. The robber displayed a weapon.

Gaithersburg area (including Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money and property were taken from two vehicles between 7 p.m. on Aug. 28 and 2 p.m. on Aug. 29. The thefts happened in the 19000 block of Swan Drive and the 19000 block of Quail Valley Boulevard.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the area of Watkins Mill and Club House roads between 5 p.m. on Aug. 30 and 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 31. Force was reported.
  • Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between Aug. 28 and Sept. 4. Affected streets included Fertile Meadow Court, Cross Country Lane, Amber Meadows Court, Lindbergh Drive and Airpark Road. Force was reported in four cases.

Vehicle theft

  • A vehicle was taken in the 8600 block of Calypso Lane around 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 29.
