Police Blotter: Eight vehicle thefts in Bethesda area

Crimes reported to Montgomery County police Jan. 3 through 9

Rockville area (including Rockville, North Potomac, Darnestown, Poolesville)

Vehicle thefts

  • A construction vehicle was taken from the 12100 block of Hanson Farm Drive between 4 p.m. on Dec. 30 and 8 a.m. on Jan. 6.

Bethesda area (including North Bethesda, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Kensington)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Money was taken from two vehicles between Jan. 4 and 8. The thefts happened in the 3800 block of Everett Street and the 4200 block of Matthews Lane.
  • Money, property and parts were taken from four vehicles between Jan. 3 and 9. Affected streets included River Road, De Russey Parkway, Wisconsin Avenue, and Norwood Drive. Force was reported in two cases.
  • Money and property were taken from a vehicle in the 5500 block of Charles Street between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Jan. 5.
  • Property was taken from a vehicle in the 7000 block of MacArthur Boulevard between 5 and 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 5. Force was reported.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 3400 block of Thornapple Street between 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 2 and 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 3. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked with the key inside.
  • A motorcycle was taken in the 1700 block of East West Highway between 8 p.m. on Jan. 4 and 6 a.m. on Jan. 5.
  • A vehicle was taken from a home in the 10200 block of Frederick Avenue between 8 p.m. on Jan. 3 and 6 a.m. on Jan. 4. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked. It was recovered the next day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 10600 block of Kenilworth Avenue around 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 6.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 5200 block of Ventnor Road between 12:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. on Jan. 3. A key was reportedly left inside.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 5100 block of Newport Avenue between 9 p.m. on Jan. 7 and 6 a.m. on Jan. 8.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 6400 block of Garnett Drive between 8 p.m. on Jan. 8 and 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 9. It was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside.
  • A dirt bike was taken in the 6700 block of Bradley Boulevard around 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 4.

Silver Spring area (including Silver Spring, Fairland, Burtonsville)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Property was taken from three vehicles between Jan. 2 and 9. Two thefts happened in the 800 to 900 blocks of Thayer Avenue and the other happened in the 7700 block of Blair Road. Force was reported.
  • Money, property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between Dec. 29 and Jan. 9. Affected streets included Schuyler Road, Manchester Road, Brookville Road, Manchester Place, Hildarose Drive, Saybrook Avenue and Evans Drive. Force was reported in multiple cases.
  • Property was taken from multiple vehicles between Dec. 27 and Jan. 8. Affected streets included Mt. Pisgah Road, Cherry Tree Lane, Hampshire Green Lane, Hampshire West Court, Kinloch Road and McGovern Drive. Force was reported in three cases.
  • Property was taken from three vehicles between Jan. 2 and 7. Affected streets included Summer Hill Court, Sweet Clover Court and Cherry Hill Road.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 1100 block of East West Highway round 4:39 p.m. on Jan. 6. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked and running. It was recovered the same day.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 8700 block of 1st Avenue around 7 p.m. on Jan. 7. It was reportedly left unlocked with the key in the ignition.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 15500 block of Grace Church Road between 11 p.m. on Jan. 5 and 5 a.m. on Jan. 6. A key was reportedly left inside. The vehicle was recovered on Jan. 6.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 200 block of East Indian Spring Drive around 5:40 a.m. on Jan. 8. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked and running.
  • An all-terrain vehicle was taken in the 13900 block of Old Columbia Pike between 11 p.m. on Jan. 5 and 7 a.m. on Jan. 6.

Armed robbery

  • Two people took money and property from a man in the 800 block of Wayne Avenue around 7:15 p.m. on Jan. 3. One of the robbers displayed a weapon, and the other assaulted him.

Commercial burglaries

  • Merchandise was taken from New World Wireless at 8705 Flower Ave. between 9 p.m. on Jan. 6 and 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 7. Force was reported.
  • Property was taken from Good Shepherd United Methodist Church at 9701 New Hampshire Ave. between 2 p.m. on Jan. 6 and 12:27 p.m. on Jan. 7. Force was reported.
  • Property was taken from the leasing office of White Oak Park apartments at 11431 Lockwood Drive between 6:01 p.m. on Jan. 7 and 8 a.m. on Jan. 8.

Gaithersburg area (including Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village)

Thefts from vehicles

  • Property and parts were taken from four vehicles between Jan. 5 and 9. Affected streets included Gable Ridge Terrace, West Diamond Avenue and Duvall Lane. Force was reported in three cases.
  • Property and parts were taken from three vehicles between Jan. 5 and 9. Affected streets included Walkers Choice Road, Bobwhite Circle and Lost Knife Circle. Force was reported in two cases.
  • Money and property were taken from three vehicles between Jan. 4 and 7. Affected streets included Cottonwood Court, Ivoryton Place and Blue Violet Lane.

Vehicle thefts

  • A vehicle was taken in the 19000 block of Threshing Place between 4 p.m. on Dec. 31 and 4:20 p.m. on Jan. 1. It was recovered on Jan. 1.
  • A vehicle was taken in the 9800 block of Walker House Road between 5 p.m. on Jan. 2 and 12:45 p.m. on Jan. 3. It was recovered on Jan. 3.

Armed robbery

  • Someone took money from a man around 5:31 a.m. on Jan. 6 in the 18400 block of Lost Knife Circle. The robber displayed a weapon.
