Police Blotter: Bank Robbery in Chevy Chase; Attempted Carjacking at Westfield Montgomery Mall

Chevy Chase

Bank robbery

Someone stole cash from the SunTrust Bank at 8510 Connecticut Ave. at approximately 9:05 a.m. Aug. 3.

Bethesda

Thefts from vehicles

Three thefts from vehicles occurred between approximately 9 p.m. Aug. 3 and 8 a.m. Aug. 4. One theft occurred in the 7400 block of Ridgewood Avenue and two occurred in the 4100 block of Leland Street. No forced entry was reported. Property was taken.

Thefts from vehicles occurred between July 30 and Aug. 7 on Old Georgetown Road, Montrose Avenue, Parklawn Terrace and Strathmore Hall Street. No forced entry was reported. Vehicle parts were taken.

Residential burglary

Someone entered an unlocked door and took property from a residence in the 5300 block of Wapakoneta Road between approximately 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Aug. 2.

Someone entered but did not take anything from a residence in the 9700 block of Holmhurst Road between approximately 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. Aug. 5.

Stolen vehicle

Someone used keys found inside an unlocked vehicle to steal the vehicle and property inside it at a residence in the 5300 block of Blackistone Road between approximately 5:45 p.m. Aug. 7 and 3:23 a.m. Aug. 8.

Attempted carjacking

An attempted carjacking occurred in a parking garage at the Westfield Montgomery mall at 7101 Democracy Blvd. at approximately 9:15 p.m. Aug. 2.

North Bethesda

Strong-arm robbery

Two people took property from a man in the 11800 block of Rockville Pike at approximately 3:34 p.m. Aug. 4

Potomac

Residential burglary

Someone broke into and took property from a residence in the 13300 block of Deerbrook Drive between approximately 8:45 a.m. and 4:07 p.m. Aug. 1.

North Potomac

Residential burglary

Someone entered, but did not take anything from a residence in the 12000 block of Cherry Blossom Place between approximately 7 p.m. Aug. 3 and 10 a.m. Aug. 4.

Rockville

Thefts from vehicles

Two thefts from vehicles occurred between approximately 5:30 p.m. Aug. 3 and approximately 2:10 p.m. Aug. 4. One theft occurred in the unit block of Elmcroft Court and one theft occurred in the 15200 block of Siesta Key Way. No forced entry was reported. Property was taken.

Someone broke into and took property from vehicles parked on the 13700 block of Travilah Road between approximately 7 a.m. July 30 and 5:40 a.m. July 31.

Attempted commercial burglary

An attempted commercial burglary occurred at Lawn Systems Inc. at 13761 Travilah Road in the early morning hours of Aug. 3.

Silver Spring

Thefts from vehicles

Thefts from vehicles occurred from July 30 to Aug. 7 on Fidler Lane, Georgia Avenue, East West Highway, and Cedar, Fenton and Bonifant streets. Forced entry was reported in one theft and cash and property were taken.

Other thefts from vehicles occurred between approximately 2:15 p.m. Aug. 3 and 9:15 a.m. Aug. 4 on Green Holly, Flowering Tree and Castlehedge terraces, Tilton and Forest Grove drives, Linden Lane, Spring Street, and 1st and Wayne avenues. Forced entry was reported in one theft, and cash and property were taken.

Residential burglary

Someone entered a residence in the 8600 block of Georgia Avenue and took property in the early morning hours of Aug. 4.

Someone took property after entering an unlocked shed in the 1400 block of Highland Drive between approximately noon July 30 and 7:25 a.m. Aug. 1.

Commercial burglary

Someone entered and took property from the HIAS organization at 1300 Spring St. at 5:19 p.m. Aug. 5.

Attempted residential burglary

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 8600 block of Manchester Road between approximately 11 p.m. July 31 and 10:15 p.m. Aug. 1.

Attempted armed robbery

A man displayed a weapon and attempted to take a woman’s property in the 8700 block of Bradford Road at approximately 10:30 p.m. Aug. 4.
