Montgomery County has had 14 fatal pedestrian crashes this year

| Published:

A vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian in North Bethesda early Friday morning, Montgomery County police said.

Police posted on Twitter that they received a call around 5:09 a.m. that a pedestrian had been struck at the intersection of Rockville Pike and Grosvenor Lane. The crash was fatal, police said.

Police did not provide additional information, including the identities of the pedestrian and the vehicle driver.

The area of the crash is just south of the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro station.

This is the 14th fatal pedestrian crash in Montgomery County in 2020. In recent weeks, police have urged drivers and pedestrians to be careful with darkness coming earlier since Daylight Saving Time ended.

The 14 pedestrian fatalities equals the number in the county in 2018, and surpasses the 13 in 2019.
