Montgomery County police say a woman was killed Wednesday after she was struck by a vehicle in Rockville’s Twinbrook area.

Police wrote in a press release Wednesday that they received a call at 7:21 a.m. that a woman had been struck by a Chevrolet Suburban in the 2600 block of McAuliffe Drive, between Linthicum Street and Farragut Avenue. The area is just off Veirs Mill Road.

The Chevrolet Suburban was driven by Sylvia McNickle, 54, of Rockville, police said. She was not charged, police said.

Police said the pedestrian tried to cross McAuliffe Drive when she was hit.

The woman was seriously injured and taken to the hospital, police said. She died at the hospital of her injuries.

The pedestrian’s identity had not been released Wednesday because her family had not been notified, police said.
