Multivehicle Collision on Northbound I-270 Spur Snarls Beltway Traffic
Traffic backed up for miles after Tuesday incident
Traffic was backed up for several miles on the Beltway’s inner loop after a collision Tuesday involving five vehicles, including a tractor trailer, on the northbound I-270 Spur, authorities reported.
WJLA traffic reporter Nicole O’Brian tweeted the collision caused injuries, but no further details were available Tuesday afternoon.
The vehicles had been removed to the shoulder and all lanes were open as of 2:30 p.m., authorities said. According to O’Brian, delays of about 5.5 miles on the inner loop had begun at Old Georgetown Pike in Virginia.
