A man from Harford County was killed when his motorcycle and a car crashed in Silver Spring on Sunday, Montgomery County police said.

Ernesto Abel Blanco Rodriguez, 40, of Havre de Grace, died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed with a car near the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Northampton Drive around 2:25 p.m. Sunday, police said in a press release.

Rodriguez was riding a 2015 BMW S 1000 RR motorcycle south on New Hampshire Avenue when someone driving a Toyota Corolla was traveling north and tried to turn left onto Northampton Drive, police said. The two vehicles crashed and Rodriguez was ejected.

Rodriguez was taken to a hospital and later died, police said.

Police released information about the crash on Sunday, but did not identify Rodriguez. Under a recently adopted policy, Montgomery County police wait at least 24 hours before releasing the identity of a crash victim to allow time for next of kin to be notified.
