A man died on Sunday after his motorcycle and another vehicle crashed in Silver Spring, Montgomery County police said.

The man was riding a 2015 BMW S 1000 RR motorcycle south on New Hampshire Avenue near Northampton Drive around 2:25 p.m., police said in a press release on Sunday.

His vehicle struck a Toyota Corolla that was turning left onto Northampton Drive from the northbound lanes.

The man was ejected from his motorcycle when the vehicles crashed, police said. He was taken to a hospital with injuries considered life-threatening, and was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the Corolla was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Police did not release the identity of the victim on Sunday, saying they were waiting to notify the family. It is standard practice for Montgomery County police to wait at least 24 hours to release the identity of a victim in a fatal crash.
