Police in Prince William County, Virginia, arrested a Bethesda-based Montgomery County police officer last week for allegedly trying to set up a sexual encounter with an undercover officer who was posing online as a 15-year-old girl, according to The Washington Post.
Prince William County police announced that 27-year-old Christopher Dunkes was one of seven men arrested as part of the week-long undercover sting that began last week. Dunkes answered a Craigslist advertisement posted by the undercover officer and emailed and texted with the officer about specific sex acts, according to court documents cited by The Washington Post.
Montgomery County police spokesperson Capt. Paul Starks told the newspaper that Dunkes, a Gaithersburg resident, joined the department in 2014 and was assigned to the Bethesda-based 2nd District Station. Starks said Dunkes has been suspended without pay.
According to Prince William County police, Dunkes was being held Monday without bond and was charged with three counts of using a communication device to facilitate certain offenses with children. Prince William County police said each of the seven men caught in the sting were arrested without incident at a pre-arranged meeting spot in the county.
