A man died after his motorcycle struck a tree on the Intercounty Connector in the Shady Grove area on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.
The motorcyclist went off the road and crashed into a tree just before 5:45 p.m. Wednesday while traveling on the ICC near the exit for the access road to Shady Grove Metro, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer wrote on Twitter.
Cpl. Brady McCormick, a spokesman for Maryland Transportation Authority police, told Bethesda Beat in an interview Thursday morning that the motorcyclist died at the scene.
McCormick did not identify the man or have additional details about what happened.
The road was closed immediately after the crash until 9:15 p.m., he said.
