Man charged with stabbing woman in Wheaton

Police said he did not know the victim

Montgomery County police have charged a man with stabbing a 40-year-old woman outside a home in Wheaton.

Christian Norman, 32, stabbed the woman as she and her children were getting into a vehicle just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, police said in a press release on Tuesday.

Police said Norman approached the woman and stabbed her multiple times. Witnesses called 911, police said.

Police said the woman had multiple lacerations and puncture wounds and she was taken to the hospital. The children were not injured.

A knife was found at the scene, police said.

An officer at the scene found Norman after searching for about five minutes, police said. Norman had blood on his clothing and was near a footpath, about a quarter-mile from the home where the stabbing took place.

Police said Norman was taken into custody and had injuries on his face, but wouldn’t discuss the injuries.

Norman did not know the woman he stabbed, police said.

Norman has been charged with one count of first-degree assault and is due in court March 19, according to court records. Attorney information was not listed on Tuesday.
