A Washington, D.C., man was charged with attempted murder after he and three others allegedly stabbed, punched and stomped on a man on Monday in Silver Spring, police said.

According to charging documents, Darius Kelly and three other men briefly chased a man on foot in the area of Lockwood Drive before knocking him to the ground and punching, kicking and stomping on his head and chest.

Kelly allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times before the assailants fled the scene, police said. Kelly’s identification card was allegedly later found at the scene, and two witnesses identified him to police as the man who stabbed the victim.

In an interview with police, Kelly denied involvement, according to court records. Attorney information for Kelly was not available in online court records as of Thursday afternoon.

He was arrested and charged with second-degree attempted murder, assault and reckless endangerment, according to court documents.

He appeared in court on Tuesday and was ordered to be held without bond.

In a press release on Thursday, the Montgomery County Police Department wrote that officers are “looking for other individuals who may be involved with this incident.”

Police asked anyone with information to call them at 240-773-6870.
