Man accused of killing man who shared home with him

Police responded to report of shooting, found body

A man has been charged with killing a man with whom he shared a home in the Hillandale area of Silver Spring.

Andre R. Moore, 21, has been charged with killing 40-year-old Michael Sutton on Monday in a home in the 900 block of Balmoral Drive, police said in a press release on Tuesday.

Moore and Sutton shared the home, police said.

Officer Rick Goodale, a police spokesman, wrote in an email to Bethesda Beat that Moore and Sutton weren’t related, but he didn’t know what their relationship was.

“All we know is that they were two people who lived in the same home,” he wrote.

Officers were called to the home at 12:42 p.m. on Monday after they got a report of a shooting, they wrote in the press release. Police said officers found Sutton dead with trauma to his body.

Police said they determined that Moore ran away before police got to the scene and identified him as the suspect. Police arrested him about a mile from the home, they said.

Police posted on Twitter on Monday that they were investigating a man’s death, but did not provide additional information.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine how Sutton died, police said on Tuesday.

Moore has been charged with one count of first-degree murder, according to court records. No court date or attorney was listed as of Tuesday afternoon.
