A Gaithersburg man was charged on Friday with child pornography possession, State police said.

Kevin Lewis Long, 51, was charged with possession of child pornography, obstruction of justice, hindering a law enforcement investigation and tampering with evidence in a criminal investigation, according to a press release.

Authorities started investigating Long in January, and last month, state police, Montgomery County police and the Department of Homeland Security served a search warrant at his house, police said.

State police said they determined that multiple child pornography files were on Long’s electronic devices. He was arrested Friday morning.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Court records indicate that Long posted bond on Friday. A trial date of Feb. 3 is scheduled. No attorney information was listed on Friday for Long.
