A child was injured after falling from an upper floor of an apartment building in Takoma Park Monday afternoon.

The child “likely” fell from an 11th-floor window of the Park Ritchie Apartments at 7600 Maple Avenue at around 4:15 p.m. Monday, according to a tweet from Pete Piringer, a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire & Rescue.

The child landed on mulch and ivy next to a sidewalk and parking lot, Piringer reported.

Takoma Park police could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday morning. In a tweet on Monday night, the police department wrote the incident was “still under investigation.”
