Two gunmen assaulted an employee and robbed Brookville Pharmacy in Chevy Chase on Monday, police said.

The suspects stole cash and merchandise from the 7025 Brookville Road location.

At around 7 p.m., two men approached a pharmacy assistant as he locked the door to the building, displayed handguns and struck him, police said. The suspects fled in an unknown vehicle after the robbery.

The Village of Martin’s Additions Town Council is considering options to increase police presence in the community, Village Manager Matthew Trollinger said in a letter to residents.

“The office and Council are taking this event very seriously,” Trollinger said in the letter.
