Planning Director To Talk “Revitalizing” MoCo’s Suburbs
Montgomery County Planning Department Director Gwen Wright will talk about plans for White Flint, Bethesda, Westbard and other areas in a panel discussion titled “Montgomery County — Revitalizing its Suburbs.”
The event, organized by commercial real estate news and marketing company Bisnow, is set for the morning of Thursday, Feb. 19 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center (5701 Marinelli Road).
Wright will join speakers from development companies JBG, Monument Realty, EYA, the Chevy Chase Land Company and others, as well as noted Bethesda Row architect David Kitchens and Montgomery County’s Greg Ossont.
Ossont, deputy director of the county’s Department of General Services, heads up the office responsible for finding partnerships with private developers, including the new 2nd District Police Station planned for Rugby Avenue.
Tim Dugan, land use attorney with Shulman Rogers, will moderate the panel. Tickets cost $79.
According to a Planning Department press release, Wright will “explain how the new county zoning ordinance and master plans encourage mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly and sustainable communities where residents can walk and bike to homes, stores, offices, parks and transit.”
