Gaithersburg to vote on development agreement for Lakeforest Mall

The Gaithersburg City Council will vote Monday on a resolution to approve a development agreement for Lakeforest Mall.

The agreement will allow Lakeforest Development LLC to redevelop the roughly 103-acre parcel into a mixed-use property with residential, office, and retail space.

The council meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in Gaithersburg City Hall at 31 S. Summit Ave.

Montgomery County Council scheduled to vote on establishing a Police Advisory Commission

On Tuesday, the Montgomery County Council will likely vote on a bill to establish a police advisory commission, a 13-member group to advise the council on police matters and recommend policies, programs, and regulations.

The daytime portion of the council meeting will also include a vote on new officers to succeed outgoing Council President Nancy Navarro and Vice President Sidney Katz.

At 7:30 p.m., the council will hold a public hearing on a proposed bill from Council Member Evan Glass that would impose new fees on teardown construction — newly rebuilt homes that replace older residences on residential properties.

The daytime meeting will start at 9:30 a.m. Both the meeting and public hearing will be held in the third-floor hearing room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville.

Planning Board to discuss county transportation priorities

The county’s Planning Board on Thursday will discuss a letter from the Montgomery County Department of Transportation, which will send its local priorities to the Maryland Department of Transportation.

The letter lists the Corridor Cities Transitway — a canceled rapid bus transportation route from Shady Grove to Clarksburg — as a priority, in addition to commuter rail expansion and improvements to pedestrian safety.

The Planning Board’s meeting begins at noon in the MRO Auditorium at 8787 Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring.
