Walker & Dunlop makes $700M investment in affordable housing

Bethesda-based real estate finance company Walker & Dunlop will acquire Alliant Capital Ltd., one of the nation’s largest developers and financers of affordable housing projects, in a deal valued at $696 million. [WTOP]

Teen works to help adolescents, underserved

Ishanvi Malayanil, a senior at Richard Montgomery High School, is doing what she can to address what she calls the period poverty crisis.

She’ll soon distribute the more than 850 menstrual products she started collecting in June, primarily for the transgender community and Black Indigenous People of Color. [WJLA]

Montgomery County Public Libraries to expand hours

Montgomery County Public Libraries will expand hours back to pre-pandemic levels effective Sept. 12.

The operational hours for all branches, excluding Maggie Nightingale (Poolesville) and Noyes Library for Young Children, will be:

• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

• Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. [Montgomery County]
