The truck that hit a D.C. bridge that collapsed on Wednesday belongs to Frank’s Scrap Metal and Recycling in Silver Spring.

Death threat targets Montgomery County Council candidate, her family

A candidate for the Montgomery County Council said she’s received threats targeting herself and her family.

“I hoped that it wouldn’t happen, this being a local race in a liberal county, but as a woman of color running for office in today’s age, I was expecting it,” said Kristin Mink, a progressive activist running for an at-large seat. [NBC 4]

Speed indicators coming to Gaithersburg road

Speed limit signs that also indicate the driver’s speed are coming to a road in Gaithersburg that transportation officials said has been the site of several speed-related crashes.

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation said in a statement Thursday that four “dynamic speed signs” are coming to Brink Road, in Gaithersburg — two facing east, two facing west. [WTOP]
