Marriott International facing lawsuit by D.C. attorney general

Attorney General Karl A. Racine has filed a complaint against Bethesda-based Marriott International, alleging deceptive pricing. Fees are often added during online room selection, resulting in higher prices than advertised, according to the suit. “It robs consumers of the ability to make an apples-to-apples comparison,” said Jimmy Rock, assistant deputy D.C. attorney general.  [Washington Post]

Steer rescued from ditch in Boyds

Montgomery County rescue crews responded to a ravine on White Store Road to remove a 2,000-pound steer on Monday. With a wench, cables and straps, they were eventually able to save the animal after three hours stuck in the ditch. It’s unclear how the steer became stranded.  [WUSA9]

President of Bethesda construction company dies

Somerset Construction Co. President Michael Caruthers has died at 72. Caruthers led the Bethesda-based company since 1993, working with local industry titans such as Bozzuto Group, Elm Street Development and Southern Management Corp.  [Washington Business Journal]
