Silver Spring woman claims $40,000 VaxCash lottery prize

Marnobia Alegria Juarez of Silver Spring was a $40,000 winner in the June 1 drawing in the state’s $2 Million VaxCash Promotion.

Single tracking, station closures on Red Line will have ‘significant impact’

Repairs on Metro’s Red Line scheduled to start in July will involve round-the-clock single tracking and station closures that the transit agency said are expected to cause “significant impacts” for customers.

The work includes the replacement of the platform canopy at Rockville station and canopy repairs at Shady Grove. [WTOP]

Maryland’s coronavirus state of emergency to end July 1

With more than 72 percent of adults in Maryland having received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, the state will end its state of emergency on July 1.

Gov. Larry Hogan said at a news conference on Tuesday in Annapolis that all emergency mandates and restrictions from the past 15 months will be terminated, with no statewide mask order in effect in any setting, including schools, camps and child-care facilities. [Washington Post]
