Researchers looking for volunteers for COVID-19 vaccine trial

Researchers at the Silver Spring-based Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) have begun a Phase 1 clinical trial of a new type of COVID-19 vaccine.

WRAIR is enrolling volunteers for Phase 1 to examine the vaccine’s safety in humans, according to Dr. Paul Scott, deputy director of the WRAIR Emerging Infectious Diseases Branch. [Source of the Spring]

King turns to O’Malley vets for gubernatorial campaign

Former U.S. Education secretary John B. King Jr. of Silver Spring, who announced last week that he’s seeking the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, has begun to assemble a team of campaign advisers and consultants.

Maryland will keep its eight seats in the House of Representatives in the next round of redistricting, Census Bureau officials announced Monday.
