New Purple Line contractor should be in place by February, transit officials say

Maryland transit officials plan to have a new construction team in place by mid-February to complete the Purple Line, replacing the contractor that quit a year ago amid cost disputes with the state.

That timing, five months later than previously planned, could have bulldozers revving up again between Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in the spring. [Washington Post]

Novavax taking combined COVID-flu vaccine to clinical study

Novavax is taking the next step in its journey toward becoming a vaccine powerhouse: advancing a combination vaccine for the coronavirus and seasonal flu.

The Gaithersburg biotech said Wednesday it has started to enroll participants in an early-stage clinical study that will test one shot for both COVID-19 and influenza. [Washington Business Journal]

Renovated Grey Courthouse Office Building opens in Rockville

Montgomery County leaders cut the ribbon on the newly renovated Grey Courthouse Office Building in Rockville Wednesday morning.

The renovations costs $25.5 million and they’ve been under discussion by county officials since 2015. [Montgomery Community Media]
