Howard Hughes Medical Institute announces $2B diversity investment

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute, headquartered in Chevy Chase, has announced a $2 billion commitment to advancing racial, ethnic and gender diversity in science.

Permitting Services will require electronic applications

The Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services will require permit applications and construction plans for residential and commercial buildings to be submitted electronically beginning Monday.

Applications for residential and commercial building permits should be submitted via the DPS website by selecting the “Apply and ePay link.” [Montgomery County]

Tree planting to be held at Glenstone Museum

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is hosting a tree planting on Oct. 27 at Glenstone Museum in Potomac to celebrate the return of fall.

There will be one session in the morning and one in the afternoon. The registration deadline is Oct. 25. [Chesapeake Bay Foundation]
